July 2007Monthly Archive “Running Late”Posted by Rob on 29 Jul 2007 | Tagged as: Scouting
All those who are curious about “Growing Pains” here’s a quick update - I have not seen him or “Lil Split” since last Thursday night the 19th of July - They’ll show back up, I have no doubt of that. Enjoy your week and I’ll update the journal when I get home next week. P.S. - Wes is in Kansas scouting, setting up feeders and tree stands this week, he should be back in Colorado by the end of the week as well. Enjoy - Robert Comments Off ” More Velvet “Posted by Rob on 19 Jul 2007 | Tagged as: Scouting I went out this evening with hopes of finding “Growing Pains” in the same spot as Sunday night, but instead I found a new buck I’ve never seen before. He’s not a giant by any means but he shows great potential. He’s only 18″ to 20″ wide, decent back forks with crab fronts and good G-1’s for 150″ deer, but whats really cool is the split on his G-3. Most definitley a 2008 shooter. See Ya - Rob Comments Off “Growing Pains” Looks GreatPosted by Rob on 16 Jul 2007 | Tagged as: Scouting It’s Sunday night - July 15, 2007 and I decided to take a evening scouting trip and get the dogs out of the house. While glassing the northwest side of the ranch I was please to see another familiar site. I located ”Growing Pains” not more than 50 yrds from where I saw him for the first time last year - man am I getting pumped up - Come on “Earl” were counting on you to show up !!!! Have a great week - come back soon, you never know what’s going to show up next. He’s got about 6 weeks of growing time left and should finish out pretty good - 170″ to 175″ (he’s only 20″ to 22″ wide). This time last year was when all the good bucks started making themselves visable - were waiting to see “Earl”, “Lucky”, “Weak Back”, “Growing Pains”, etc… and whoever else we might find. Keep checking in - It’s just starting too get good - See ya soon, Rob Left picture = 2006 (on the left of the tank). Right picture = 2007 (upper buck). Comments Off |
