“Running Late”

Posted by Rob on 29 Jul 2007 | Tagged as: Scouting

RunningLate072807c.jpg  Well here he is making his debut on the journal, please welcome “Running Late”.  This is the 6×5 I spoke of earlier that is running with Deep Front.  He’s around 25″ wide, decent fronts, good mass, average G-2’s & 3’s.  His drivers side G-3 is splitting and his passenger side G-3 is a tripod - might be a shooter this year - we’ll have to see where he finishes out, like I said, he’s “Running Late”  -  Doesn’t Deep Front look big !!!!

All those who are curious about “Growing Pains” here’s a quick update - I have not seen him or “Lil Split” since last Thursday night the 19th of July - They’ll show back up, I have no doubt of that.  Enjoy your week and I’ll update the journal when I get home next week.

P.S. - Wes is in Kansas scouting, setting up feeders and tree stands this week, he should be back in Colorado by the end of the week as well.

Take Care - Robert

“Deep Front” update

DeepFront072807b2.jpg  Hello everyone,  It’s late on Saturday night (July 28, 2007) and I’m trying really hard to get all of my stuff finished up, cause tomorrow morning I leave to go fishing for 5 days.   I was out this morning a was able to capture some really good fotage of “Deep Front” and four of his buddies.  Deep front is living up to his name - those G-4’s are almost 12″ long.  He G-2 on his passenger side is really week but he should still finish out in the low to mid 170’s (maybe bigger ?).  The narrow but on the right is a buck we watched last summer as well. He’s just a 3×4 thats only 20″ wide, but he’s got mass to spare.  The buck I’m really excited about is a 6×5 (with out eye guards) thats been running with Deep front all summer - he’s just a little behind (see the next post).

Enjoy - Robert

I went out this evening with hopes of finding “Growing Pains” in the same spot as Sunday night, but instead I found a new buck I’ve never seen before.  He’s not a giant by any means but he shows great potential.  He’s only 18″ to 20″ wide, decent back forks with crab fronts and good G-1’s for 150″ deer, but whats really cool is the split on his G-3.  Most definitley a 2008 shooter.    See Ya  -  Rob 100_0852.jpg100_0853.jpg

Have a great week - come back soon, you never know what’s going to show up next.  Rob

Deep Front Lives !!!

Posted by Rob on 16 Jul 2007 | Tagged as: Scouting

Wes and I were out on Saturday morning setting trail cameras and we were able to locate a familiar face, “Deep Front” has returned from last year with the same great front end and the same week G-2’s.  He’s got about 6 weeks of growing time left and should finish out pretty good - 170″ to 175″ (he’s only 20″ to 22″ wide).  This time last year was when all the good bucks started making themselves visable - were waiting to see “Earl”, “Lucky”, “Weak Back”, “Growing Pains”, etc… and whoever else we might find.  Keep checking in - It’s just starting too get good - See ya soon,  Rob
