Archery deer and elk openers

Finallly a post! Wes, Chanse, and I have all been in the field 5am to 10pm this week, so here’s a quick update of what’s been happening….
Hunting has been incredible…and it has been hunting! Jolie and I sat water for roughly 52 hours, waiting for elk or deer, had a cow and a doe with twins and four coyotes water on us, but what we were after either chose to come in the few hours we weren’t in the blind or when we changed setups! Our timing was a little off. Jolie’s husband, Marty, and Wes hunted elk hard for 5 days, had incredible bulls in front of them, including a 350+ bruiser nicknamed Andre (as in Andre the Giant), but never a favorable wind until the afternoon of day 5. That afternoon, through a mixture of surprising circumstances, Jolie and I were in on the spot of a beautiful 7×7 bull by Wes’s dad and got to watch from 340 yards as Marty stalked him and pulled off a perfect shot. As you can see from the pic above, he is a stud, a perfect typical 7×7. Words can’t say what all is contained in this story, but Congratulations, Marty!
Our archery mule deer hunter saw lots of deer, stalked Lucky and Deep Front, let a couple of arrows fly, but tonight Lucky and Deep Front are still sleeping on the hillside, blissfully unaware. A 4th hunter sat water in a blind for antelope for 5 days, talk about perseverance! Again, though, multiple waterholes and irregular activity made for hard luck on that hunt.
This past week was a privilege - every hunt was with repeat clients, and more than just clients, friends. Thanks to all of you for joining us again in the field…they’re some of the best days of our year.
This week brings us to 2 more archery elk hunters and both guys with their guides have been seeing many bulls and a handful of whoppers every day. We fully expect to be updating you with great success again soon! One of those hunters is Pat Lefemine of bowsite.com; we are very excited to have him here. Pat is posting his hunt with us live on his website every day - check it out! Guaranteed, his posts are much more descriptive than what’s been happening here, a fun read.
For all of you whose seasons have begun, happy hunting and check back soon!
