Hunter’s Journal

It is the last day of the season and Jesse Kerns made it work for him. We started the morning off checking out all of the possible bucks that he could take for his first buck ever. We saw deer everywhere. Jesse’s dad Travis Kerns was along to give him the support and encouragement that every dad should do. After a couple of close calls on two other bucks that got the better of us we found this buck chillin in the sun. We made a good 200 yard stalk that got us to 240 yards from the bedded buck. Unable to get any closer because of the lack of cover we decided to have Jesse take the buck. He made one heck of a shot and harvested this heavy three point. A good management deer to be taken off the ranch. Both his dad and I were very excited to see his face after the shot.
