As I sit here and write this post, I can’t express how excited I am for this fall, for the return of old friends, for the prospect of new friendships and all the increadible hunting we are going to be involved in this year.
Our spring and summer months have provided us with the most moisture Northern Colorado has seen in the last 12 years. With the mild winter we had and the exceptional moisture, we are seeing some incredible mass and healthy herds. The pictures shown above are from a trail camera I set out on Saturday morning (in just two day it had over 60 pictures on it - I set out another one this morning in another crossing area). The top picture is of a couple decent 4 to 5 year old bulls and the second picture looks to be a mature 6 x 7 (seventh point on the left side ??) - great bull by anyone’s standards.
My deer sighting are staring to come on strong as well. The cattle are still using one of my most productive trail camera spots, so as soon as they get moved out of that pasture I should have some great buck pictures to share. I have not seen our annual slammer yet, But I assure you that he and his buddy’s are out there somewhere - we’ll find them, they can’t hide forever !!
As Jason stated in his post yesterday, all you archery guy’s keep focused over these next 2 to 4 weeks and practice, practice, practice !! That once in a life time opportunity can and will happen at anytime while you are in a blind watching water holes or stalking that trophy buck or bull, so give yourself every opportunity to make that shot.
Keep checking back in, the updates will start coming more often and be packed full of some great photos and information. One quick side note, Congratulations to Pat Lefemine of www.bowsite.com for harvesting his first ever cape buffalo in Mozambique last week. With any luck we’ll get that elk monkey off your back this fall as well. Here’s a few more photos off the trail camera for your enjoyment - take care and see you all soon
